Creating an ODBC Entry
Do not attempt to create an ODBC entry if you have not installed Crystal Reports.
Before you can use user-defined reports, you must create an ODBC entry to the database so Crystal can access the Crystal dictionaries.
The method of establishing new ODBC connections differs depending on the version of Windows you are running. Regardless, you must use the ODBC Administrator to make this connection. These instructions detail the creation of an ODBC entry on a workstation running Windows 2000.
From the Start menu, select Settings, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, then Data Source (ODBC).
The ODBC Data Source Administrator dialog box appears.
Click the User DSN tab.
Click the Add button.
The Create New Data Source dialog box appears.
From the list of drivers, select CR SQLBase, a driver Crystal Reports provides.
If you are an Oracle, SQLServer, or DB2 user, select the driver that begins with CR and ends with the appropriate database name.
Click the Finish button.
The ODBC SQLBase Driver dialog box appears.
Into the Data Source Name field, enter LSA SQLBase Dictionary.
If appropriate, enter a description for the DSN into the Description field.
Enter a default database into the Database field. This is the name of the database to which you want to connect by default.
Click the Apply button to commit these settings.
