• Motion Blur (I know what you're thinking.. but keep reading)

Now, here's the wack part, are you ready? you're gonna CAP the framerate at 40fps, this will give you the HIGH graphics you want and keep the FPS smooth and stable, avoiding any choppy gameplay and weird fluctuation of the FPS, now you're probably thinking.. but senpai i want that 60fps PCMR gaming, this won't do!

sorry.. but you don't own a 980+ or a Titan. give this a shot yeah? I guarantee you won't be disappointed and/or it'll be 10x better than your current situation, nobody wants to play a game that keeps jumping between 40-80 fps.

This will make your game look amazing (remember! you're running on MEDIUM/HIGH with SSAO) and prevent any stuttering and FPS fluctuation, which is known to break immersion. This is the important part, by adding Motion Blur you are reducing the obvious FPS cap when rotating the camera, and despite what most of us (myself included) think of Motion Blur, it surprisingly works well in this game.

To CAP the framerate, go into your documents and open the Witcher 3 folder, locate the file USER and open this with Notepad. Then, press CTRL+F and type LimitFPS and change this number to 40.

• Nvidia Control Panel

• FXAA: On

• Power Management Mode: Maximum Performance

• Threaded Optimization: On

I'm sure Radeon users can do the same steps btw.

Just try it yeah? no harm.

EDIT: if you can't stay at 40fps solid, switch to 30fps (hardly a difference with motion blur enabled)

EDIT3: Some people are PMing me and asking the reasons for VSYNC. Why do you need VSYNC if you're capping the FPS? because despite your FPS cap on the GAMEPLAY, the cutscenes still run at 60fps. By enabling VSYNC you are making sure the cutscenes don't stutter.

Locate your USER file and edit the following like: MovieFramerate=30 to MovieFramerate=60

The Witcher 3 will update with the 1.05 patch in a couple of days. The patch was originally designed to address an XP glitch that arose last week in the wake of the previous patch, but now also fixes a whole host of other niggles you may well have encountered in your monster-hunting adventures.

The XP bug prevents players earning experience points for quests that are too far below Geralt’s character level. Apparently this doesn’t have too much of an impact on the wider game balance, and players will still be able to finish the game with a Geralt at the right character level even if he does miss out on this chunk of XP. But the problem is fixed in this patch.

Alongside that, other problems remedied by the 1.05 patch are:

• Geralt will not longer interact with candles near chests and other interactive elements.
• General stability and performance improvements
• Significantly Enlarged GUI and HUD elements (including fonts) on consoles and slightly on PC.
